Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas issued an order on Monday temporarily preventing Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) from testifying in a Georgia election probe.

Thomas, who oversees cases from Florida, Alabama and Georgia, issued the one-page order, which will be in place while the Supreme Court debates the case further.

Graham filed an emergency request to Thomas on Friday after a federal appeals court last week denied his attempt to avoid testifying before a special grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia. He argued that lawmakers have constitutional protection against a subpoena.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ probe focuses on alleged Trump Campaign efforts to influence the 2020 presidential election results.

Graham said he would fight the grand jury subpoena when it was issued in July. Other prominent Republicans including former Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis were also subpoenaed.
