Each resident will take over Radio 1 every Thursday for four weeks from 11pm – 1am.
The line-up for January, February and March is as follows:
Harriet Jaxxon
Harriet Jaxxon is a DJ and producer who hails from South East London. She has a career which spans over 10 years, having supported some of the genre’s biggest acts like Chase & Status and Shy FX. From multiple world tours to performing at Glastonbury, Harriet’s name has been creeping up on the bill at many of the biggest d’n’b events over the last few years.
Harriet Jaxxon says: “Being able to share my love of music via a Radio 1 Residency has been a long-time goal of mine. It feels surreal that it’s now happening and I’m so honoured to have the opportunity to share the wide (and possibly unexpected) spectrum of sounds that continue to inspire me. As a DJ, curating journeys through music is my biggest drive in life, and that’s exactly how I’ll be approaching those 8 hours on the Radio 1 airwaves. I’ve got so much to play that it’s going to be a challenge to squeeze it all in, but I’m so excited to get going!”
KILIMANJARO
Born in the UK with Zambian heritage, KILIMANJARO is known for combining Afro-centric rhythms with Western elements to create genre-bending records. In 2022 he supported Fred again.. on numerous shows including their iconic Boiler Room which has amassed over 1.4 million views on YouTube. He has also performed at some of the biggest festivals and clubs in Europe, including Glastonbury, Kappa Futur Festival, Circo Loco at DC10 and Warehouse Project alongside working on his own music.
KILIMANJARO says: “Honoured and privileged to announce that I will be joining the BBC Radio 1 Residency this February! From sitting on my bedroom floor making mixtapes from tracks played on shows to getting my first plays from some of the station’s biggest DJs, Radio 1 has been a massive part of my musical adventure.
“I can’t wait to get stuck in and share tracks and records from my collection. From timeless classics to unreleased exclusives, expect – as ever – an eclectic mix of House, Afro house, Amapiano and everything in between. Radio 1’s Residency – let’s get it.”
