Josh Allen dons jersey of Bills Mafia fan favorite pre-game vs. Patriots

Josh Allen #JoshAllen

Josh Allen is looking for a little (Fitz)magic on Thursday Night Football.

Ahead of tonight’s matchup against the New England Patriots, Allen showed some love to Ryan Fitzpatrick, donning the former Buffalo Bills quarterback’s jersey.

Fitzpatrick is in attendance for tonight’s matchup against New England Patriots working as an analyst for Amazon’s Thursday Night Football coverage. The journeyman quarterback played for nine teams during his NFL career, but admitted that Buffalo was his favorite city to play for. Why?

“Because it’s Buffalo,” Fitzpatrick told Adam Schefter back in 2020.

Of course, Fitzpatrick is no stranger to Bills and Patriots matchups. The quarterback was in attendance at Buffalo’s 47-17 win over the Patriots in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Fitzpatrick even went shirtless at one point in the blowout win despite below-zero termperatures.

Allen and Fitzpatrick are friends, but the veteran QB had no plans on joining the franchise QB in Buffalo this season. The big reason? He didn’t want Allen getting “Fitzpatricked.”

“If you just trace my career arc and you trace some of it I was signed to be a starter or bridge and that happened toward the tail end of my career,” Fitzpatrick told Wingo. “But a lot of the places I started as the backup and there was some crazy circumstance of why the starter got hurt.”

“Geno (Smith) breaks his jaw,” Fitzpatrick said as one example. “There’s a million different things happening that just kept happening. And I will tell you this. I haven’t really said this to anybody. I didn’t want to sign with the Bills as the backup I love Josh Allen. And I love watching Josh Allen play football. And if I signed to be a backup with the Buffalo Bills… What’s happened the rest of my career? I end up on the field. I don’t want to end up on the field! I don’t want to play on the field. I want to see Josh Allen play so that was one where it was like, ‘No. I love watching this kid too much.’ I’ve seen this story happen over and over and over again.’”
