John Calipari Put on Hot Seat by Kentucky Fans After Loss to Gonzaga amid Home Skid

Kentucky #Kentucky

Kentucky has not fared well at home recently, and now the Wildcats are suffering a historically bad losing streak.

With Gonzaga’s upset win over Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Saturday, the Wildcats now have their first three-game home losing streak since 1966. The skid is the longest ever at Rupp Arena, which opened in 1976.

The streak began against Florida when the Gators pulled off an upset over the Wildcats in overtime last week. Kentucky then lost to Tennessee at home 103-92, giving up the most points at Rupp Arena since 1992. The Wildcats got back on track on the road against Vanderbilt, but the home skid continued when Gonzaga held on to beat Kentucky 89-85 on Saturday.

After another home loss, fans on social media called for the firing of head coach John Calipari, who has been at Kentucky since 2009.

It’s not clear where Calipari stands after another loss, but the veteran coach will need to turn things around to ensure he has some job security. The Wildcats will look to snap their home-losing streak next week when they take on Ole Miss before hitting the road for a tough game against Auburn.
