Jock doesn’t think one team will plate up in time during the first challenge at Uluru
Uluru #Uluru
Jock is definitely going to have his worry beads out for this episode.
Monday’s episode of MasterChef is the first one to kick off their incredible trip to the Northern Territory, where the contestants get to cook under the stars at Uluru.
For the challenge, they will cook in two teams to create a three-course fine-dining menu that heroes native ingredients.
The contestants will be cooking for 50 guests, alongside Bruce Munro’s Field of Light installation.
Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In a clip shared with news.com.au, it becomes clear that one team is struggling with their plating up, sending Jock into a fit of panic.

Jock asks the orange team, which includes Kishwar and Pete, to time how long it takes for them to assemble their “banksia” dish. Unfortunately, they’re too slow and he warns them they will never get it done.
“Have you plated one up at a trial?” Jock asks. “You really have to motor guys, I’m going to time you from scratch.”

Panic sets in and the team go into overdrive.
“All right, I’m going to stop the clock,” says Jock, telling them that it took a long two minutes.
Kishwar says, “If we plate up like this, it will take us 50 minutes to bung out these plates, and we’re only 10 minutes from service.”
The plating takes them so long because they are trying to arrange the dish to look like a flower, meaning that they’re placing one tiny piece of carrot on top of the sweet potato at a time. It’s too slow and it won’t work in a service challenge.
“It’s too much,” Jock warns them, but we won’t know what they decide to do until the show airs at 7:30pm, on Channel 10.
