Jets should look at these 4 QBs to back up Zach Wilson

Aaron Rodgers’ leg injury was a blow to the New York Jets.

An entire offseason of executing the perfect acquisition for a franchise quarterback was put asunder four plays into the Jets’ first offensive series Monday night against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.

Even though the Jets prevailed 22-16 with Zach Wilson a part of an unlikely comeback, New York still needs to address quarterback. As it stands, Tim Boyle is the Jets’ only other quarterback in the building, and he is on the practice squad.

Here are four quarterbacks the Jets should look at to sit behind Wilson going forward.

McSorley was last seen with the New England Patriots in preseason, but would be an adequate option for the Jets. The former Baltimore Ravens 2019 sixth-round pick has been a part of quarterback rooms that featured Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray from 2021-22 during his Arizona Cardinals tenure. McSorley is 0-1 as a starter.

When a team has needed a backup, McCoy has been there. However, his stints with the Cardinals (2021-22), New York Giants (2020), and even Washington (2014-19) prior were when the teams had no options. New York knows that Wilson is their last hope; McCoy doesn’t have to save the day. McCoy would have plenty of insight with his previous 13 seasons in the league.

The former Super Bowl XLVII MVP has nine starts under his belt with the Jets over the past three seasons, going 1-8 in that span. No one would be more accustomed to the organization and personnel than Flacco. There would also be better understanding it’s Wilson’s time now.

The last anyone saw of Foles, he was taking a lick from the New York Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux on New Year’s Day. Even Foles couldn’t help himself than to be a part of the Indianapolis Colts’ messy quarterback room last year. Why not come to the Big Apple and back up Wilson? Foles would understand the mission and also be a reliable veteran in case things really started going sideways. The Super Bowl champion quarterback has logged a 7-12 record following the Philadelphia Eagles’ first Super Bowl win.
