DEFENSIVE TEST

The Jets have averaged 30.3 points over the past three games, second only to Seattle (33.0). Now, the Jets’ improved offense faces one of the NFL’s stingiest defenses. The Broncos are No. 3 in total defense (290.3 yards per game) and No. 4 in points allowed (16.5). “They’re loaded both with brains and with physical ability,” Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur said.

The Broncos offense took a hit Saturday when QB Russell Wilson (hamstring) was ruled out. Denver’s struggles – last in scoring (15.2) — have overshadowed the defense that have kept the Broncos in every game. All six have been decided by nine points or fewer, five have been by one score or less. Three of the Broncos’ losses have been by three points or less. “They’re so precise, so fast, relentless,” Robert Saleh said. “It’s as good of a defense as we’ll see all year. They’re hard to move the ball on.”

The Broncos have been better at stopping the pass than the run, which has been the Jets’ strength of late. The Jets are averaging 157 yards per game over the last two games. “They’re fast. They fly around. They’re very smart,” LaFleur said. “They’re never out of position. It’s going to be an incredible challenge.”

ROAD WARRIORS

The Jets are the only AFC team and one of just two teams (with the Eagles) that are undefeated on the road. The Jets hadn’t won three road games in a season since 2016.
