Jesy of Little Mix Announced She’s Leaving the Group

After nine years, Jesy Nelson has announced that she’s leaving Little Mix. Announcing her departure via an Instagram note, which was posted on Monday, December 14, Jesy revealed that being in the group had taken a toll on her mental health. 

She explained to fans and followers that the “constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations” was very hard. Continuing, she noted that she had made the decision to leave the group after much consideration, and with “a heavy heart.”

Jesy admitted that she wasn’t sure what the future would hold, but she did share a hope to “spend some time with the people I love, doing things that make me happy.” She wrote of a willingness to start this new chapter, saying, “I’m not sure what it’s going to look like right now, but I hope you’ll be there to support me.”

Reflecting on her time in the group, Jesy shared that the band had accomplished so much that once seemed impossible, including selling out London’s massive O2 arena, and securing multiple awards. 

Closing her note, she thanked fans, writing, “I want you to know I love you all so much and I could have never done this without you and I appreciate you endlessly.” She also shared an additional special note of appreciation to her fellow Little Mix members, writing, “I hope that you’ll continue to fulfill all of your dreams and keep on making music that people love.”

Little Mix shared news of Jesy’s departure in an accompanying Instagram post, and wrote that the journey will still continue for the remaining three members: Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall. “This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy. We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being,” the Instagram post was captioned. “We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really upsetting news for our fans. We love you guys so much and are so grateful for your loyalty and continued support of all of us. We’re looking forward to seeing so many of you on tour.”
