Jerry Jones leads Cowboys contingent to Las Vegas for Spence-Crawford fight

OXNARD, Calif. — Dallas-based boxer Errol Spence Jr. visited the Cowboys at work last month, watching them practice in Frisco.
On Saturday, they returned the gesture.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones led a group of men, known to include family members and other front-office executives, to Las Vegas for Spence’s unified title match against Terence Crawford. The contingent was scheduled to catch an afternoon flight a couple of hours after practice.
Coach Mike McCarthy said he has no issue if players choose to visit Las Vegas, too. Cowboys players have a day off Sunday before their first padded practice of training camp Monday.

“Well, they’re grown men, No. 1,” McCarthy said. “And hell, if I’d known we were that close to Vegas, I would’ve gone. We’re going to have the fight [on TV] in the team room, so it’s a good opportunity for all of us to watch it. And I’ll just be honest: I really made a mistake because I didn’t realize on the West Coast, the early fights start at 5. So, I’m thinking about canceling the mock game (walk-through) because we got to get in there and watch the fight.”
