Jerry Jeudy trade grades: Who won the Browns and Broncos deal?

Jeudy #Jeudy

Broncos coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton continue to rework the Denver roster to clear out veteran contracts and create cap space, as Jeudy’s trade doesn’t net much in return for draft capital but gives the Broncos nearly $13 million more to spend this offseason.

Trading a former first-round pick in Jeudy for much less than you used to acquire him always stings, so you have to chalk it up to a miss for the Broncos to wind up here. Jeudy wasn’t the All-Pro talent some might’ve expected him to be, but he is a solid contributor to a passing offense. His trade will undoubtedly spark the Broncos to focus receiver this offseason. First, they have to find a quarterback, but giving that quarterback ample opportunity to succeed will also be vital.

It’s a bit of a shrug for Denver. The cap space is a net positive should the team spend it wisely, but trading a young, proven receiver in Jeudy, despite him not living up to his draft status, for a few late-round picks isn’t a great optic.
