Jeremy Renner Hospitalized After Snow Plowing Accident

Jeremy Renner, the actor best known from the Academy Award-winning film The Hurt Locker and for the role of Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was hospitalized Sunday following an accident in Nevada. As first detailed by The Hollywood Reporter, emergency workers near Reno were dispatched to his home, and coordinated an extraction via Care Flight to a local hospital.

A representative told THR late Sunday that he is in “critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow.” They added that “his family is with him, and he is receiving excellent care.”

Renner owns property in the Mt. Rose area of Washoe County, Nevada, between Reno and Lake Tahoe. The area experienced an assault of bad weather over the weekend; dozens of drivers near Lake Tahoe needed a New Year’s Eve rescue on Interstate 80 after many cars spun out in the snow.

In a 2019 interview with the Reno Gazette Journal, when he was photographed at a community charity event at a local Walmart, the actor spoke warmly about his home in the area, where he teaches his children to ski. “There’s no traffic, clean air, clean water, friendly, smiling faces here. I think it’s a majestic place,” he said glowingly about the community.

Earlier in the month he shared photos on social media about the deluge of snow the area had received.

The 51-year-old actor’s current series, Mayor of Kingstown, has its season two premiere set to debut on Paramount+ in two weeks. His birthday is in five days.

Known for his turn as the bow-and-arrow-armed Avenger codenamed Hawkeye in across multiple Marvel films (and his own Disney+ miniseries), Renner has also appeared in two Mission: Impossible movies, a Bourne movie, and projects like The Immigrant, American Hustle, and Arrival. He has been nominated for two Academy Awards, one for best actor in The Hurt Locker and one for best supporting actor in The Town.

Over the holiday break, the non-existent “Jeremy Renner’s Small-Batch Hot Sauce” was celebrated by many as a key prop in the comedy-mystery Glass Onion.
