Jeremy McGovern a late withdrawal in blow for West Coast Eagles ahead of Adelaide clash

West Coast #WestCoast

Jeremy McGovern won’t be West Coast’s Adelaide Oval saviour this time around, with the star defender a late scratching from the Eagles side.

McGovern was a last-hour withdrawal ahead of the match-up with the Crows, with the four-time All-Australian failing to recover following his early exit from last week’s game due to a back complaint.

The key defender has been one of West Coast’s best players this season and misses out on a chance to return to the ground where he booted the match-winning goal against Port Adelaide in 2018.

Luke Foley comes in to replace McGovern, with Patrick Naish set to play the sub role for the Eagles.

West Coast are looking to avoid an eighth straight loss that would equal a club record for their longest winless drought.

The Eagles are also trying to dodge the prospect of being the first side in AFL/VFL history to cop eight straight trouncings by more than 50 points.

The Crows made no late changes, with Harry Schoenberg their medical sub.
