Jelena Dokic on her autobiography ‘Unbreakable’

20 years ago Jelena Dokic was the toast of the tennis world – she knocked out the reigning champion in the first round at Wimbledon on her way to the semi finals. It seemed like she had the world at her feet.

And although tennis fans knew about her father Damir, they couldn’t possibly have known what a destructive presence he was in her life – both physically and verbally abusive – and that his behaviour ruined her tennis career.

These days she is a respected TV commentator – but as Wimbledon comes to a sensational end with Ash Barty’s win in the Ladies Singles, the Jelena Dokic story is a reminder that there is more to being a champion sportswoman than what we see on court.

Jelena’s autobiography, Unbreakable is one of the most honest and eye-opening sporting books ever written. She spoke to Rod about her extraordinary life.
