Jayson Tatum leads explosive fourth quarter, Celtics survive in Philly to force Game 7 in Boston

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics’ season lives to see another day.

It wasn’t easy, and it nearly slipped away, but the Celtics hung on to outlast the Sixers 95-86 in Game 6 in Philadelphia on Thursday night. Boston outscored Philly 24-13 in the final quarter.

Jayson Tatum shook off a miserable shooting night to hit three massive 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, helping the Celtics turn an 83-81 deficit into a 92-84 lead. He added a fourth 3-pointer in the final minute to make it a 95-84 lead for Boston.

Marcus Smart led Celtics scorers with 22 points, followed by Tatum’s 19 and Jaylen Brown’s 17. Smart also led the team with seven assists, while Al Horford had 11 rebounds.

Game 7 will be Sunday in Boston.
