Jared Goff uses Jamal Adams’ ‘cigar celebration’ as motivation, gets revenge in Saturday’s win

Let’s go back to a happier time for the Seattle Seahawks, just for once, now that this season is over for the team.

Two weeks ago, the Seahawks won the NFC West against, that’s right, the Los Angeles Rams.

All-Pro safety Jamal Adams was ecstatic. Those years playing for the New York Jets and not making it to the postseason can take a toll on anyone, honestly.

So Adams wanted to celebrate accordingly, and he did so by lighting a victory cigar at the podium in his post-game press conference.

Obviously, Seahawks fans were loving the celebration, and why not? He deserved that special moment and so did the Seahawks.

Was it trash talk? I don’t think so. But it can rub the team you just beat the wrong way, especially in the game of football.

Rams quarterback Jared Goff didn’t find the cigar lighting funny at all, and took it rather personally as we just found out after the Rams beat the Seahawks 30-20 in the Wild Card playoff game.

Goff isn’t much of a talker, but he made sure he brought up one instance in particular.

Goff essentially got his revenge and he deserves all the credit in the world for how he played in Saturday’s game.

John Wolford was named the starter initially for the game against Seattle. Goff has just been 10 days removed from thumb surgery, and the team didn’t want to risk more injury.

But not even 10 minutes into the game, Wolford suffered a neck injury by Adams and was ruled out for the contest.

Goff didn’t play all that great, but he made key throws and threw for 155 yards and a touchdown in a crucial win.

Whether Adams lightning the cigar was extra motivation for him or not, Goff can now say he had the last laugh in the Seahawks-Rams rivalry.

At least for this season.
