Jamie Carragher says football has been ‘RUINED’ by new handball laws as Tottenham coach is SENT OFF after Eric Dier is penalised
Dier #Dier
Jamie Carragher has launched a scathing attack on the football authorities for ‘ruining’ the game as the new handball laws stole all the headlines once again.
Tottenham could only manage a draw at home to Newcastle with the Magpies’ late equaliser coming in controversial circumstances.

Callum Wilson scored the penalty to give Newcastle an unlikely point
Eric Dier was adjudged to have handled inside the box despite having his back to the ball. Referee Peter Bankes didn’t give a spot-kick at the time but changed his mind following a lengthy VAR check.
Callum Wilson scored the resulting spot-kick in stoppage-time as both sides shared the spoils. Lucas Moura gave Spurs the lead in the first half.
The end of the game saw Jose Mourinho storm down the tunnel while Spurs goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos was sent off for his animated protests at the referee.
A furious Mourinho headed straight for the tunnel as the game finished
Mourinho refused to comment on the incident in his post-match interview but Sky Sports pundit Carragher had plenty to say.
A furious Carragher said: “It’s an absolute DISGRACE. An absolute JOKE.
“Newcastle fans will be ecstatic but everyone else in this country will be saying exactly what I’m saying and what I’m thinking.
“Eric Dier jumps for the ball, has no control of where his arms are going to be, there’s a header half a yard away from him, it hits him on the back of the arm, he has no idea what’s going on.
“This is a joke, whether it’s the Premier League, the FA, FIFA, [Pierluigi] Collina, whoever is involved in this, stop it because you’re ruining football for everybody.”
