Jamie Carragher not impressed by one Manchester United player against Liverpool today

Jamie Carragher suggested that Sofyan Amrabat just cannot run as he noted that the style Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to play really does not play to the midfielder’s strengths.
Carragher was speaking after the Morocco international was booked for a first-half foul on Luis Diaz, with the summer signing resorting to pulling the Liverpool forward back to try and stop him breaking into the box.
Sofyan Amrabat is yet to prove why Manchester United decided to sign him on loan in the summer. Of course, he was sensational at the World Cup a year ago. But United fans have not seen that player since his arrival on loan.

Ten Hag’s side were able to prove a real point to take a draw away from Anfield on Sunday. And the visitors will feel that they had the chances to win also.

However, one player who definitely struggled was Amrabat. And speaking on Sky Sports (broadcast on 17/12; 17:08), Jamie Carragher suggested that Manchester United’s style does not suit Amrabat as he was picked up the yellow card.
“Well, it doesn’t help, Gary [Neville] keeps mentioning when you look at the profile of player United have got, especially him. Playing a man to man marking system in midfield’s not going to help him. He can’t run,” he said.

The good news for United is that Amrabat is only on loan. As things stand, it is hard to see him leaving the club with a decision to make over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

But it is alarming that Amrabat has been overshadowed by Kobbie Mainoo in recent weeks. Mainoo was impressive again on Sunday as the game ended in a stalemate.
Amrabat made the move to Manchester United on deadline day as the side cried out for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
At this stage, he is definitely looking like a bit of a desperate signing. It certainly feels like a long time since he was stealing the show with his country at the World Cup.
