JAMES LOWE reckons that Ireland ace Mack Hansen’s haircut makes him look like a ‘Karen’.

But he insists there are no Karens in the Ireland squad as he rubbished talk that Saturday’s showdown with France is a Grand Slam decider.

Hansen got his hair clipped recently, while Kiwi-born Lowe has kept his own luxuriant mane.

Lowe said: “He’s got a horrible haircut. My wife said he looks likes a Karen, like he’s going to ask for the manager! Mack is Mack.”

Karen is the internet meme-friendly term for an entitled person but Lowe is adamant there is no sense of entitlement within the Ireland squad about where they are heading.

Asked if the winners of Saturday’s clash would take not just the Championship but a Grand Slam, Lowe (left) was offended by the suggestion.

He said: “Jesus . . . not really, no. It’s the second game of a Six Nations, I don’t want to get too far ahead and I’m sure they’ll be the same.

“It’s an old cliché but it is one game at a time and we’ll take it like that.

“We’re playing France at home and a lot of those 50:50 calls will hopefully go our way. If we get across our detail we can do a job.

“They’re a world class side and they have shown it for a good couple of years.”

Ireland could potentially face France in a World Cup quarter-final in Paris next October — and that adds to the intrigue around the game. But Lowe claims that this Saturday will have no bearing on October.

He said: “It is still a long time away but you want to keep building and hold on to momentum for as long as you can. We’re in a good place.

“We’re a different team now compared to where we were 12 months ago. We’re going to give it a good crack.

“If they beat us and the better team wins that’s what happens. That’s sport.

“We’re going to leave no stone unturned to make sure we turn up in a good shape at the weekend.”
