Former rugby star James Haskell has admitted to crying more than ever this year after opening up about family life with his wife, Chloe Madeley.
The 38-year old’s confession comes after Chloe – the daughter of ITV duo Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan – was seen hiding her wedding ring at the weekend after snaps of James whispering into the ear of a mystery blonde on Friday were released. Along with their tot Bodhi, who was born in August 2022, the family are currently starring in an ITVX fly-on-the-wall series titled, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair. In a teaser for the show, James declares: “When it comes to sports, you live in the moment and try not to show your emotions.”
He continues: “But now, I’ve probably cried more in the last year than I have in my entire life. Being a dad is so emotional. You learn to love someone so primal, and you don’t really know how to comprehend it. I think it’s amazing.”
The clip, which was shared by OK! magazine, sees James add: “As a sportsman, I was taught not to get too happy, too sad, or overemotional. But when you have someone to look after and guard, who’s just the sweetest thing and who loves you for who you are, it’s a different story.”

The four-part series follows the day-to-day lives of James and Chloe as they adapt to parenthood and juggle real-life struggles and the pressures of work. As they try to keep the romance alive as two becomes three, James explains: “It is [hard] but it’s the same for any couple with a baby. The child becomes your priority, and you’re usually really tired.”
It comes after personal trainer Chloe was reportedly “upset” after pictures showed James speaking to a mystery blonde during a night out in London’s celebrity hotspot Chiltern Firehouse.
After heading out on a night out with friends this weekend, her wedding band clearly missing from her ring finger. It followed Chloe’s revelations just days earlier that that the couple had their “biggest row ever” over him sharing X-rated snaps of women on social media whist DJing abroad.
After the snaps have left fans bemused over the strong couple’s antics, a representative of James has shared with the Mirror his side of the story. The spokesperson said: “The woman pictured is a friend of James’s group who he just met that night. They were simply having a conversation outside so there is nothing to this story.”
