James Harden made NBA history during Monday’s game.
On Monday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are hosting the Brooklyn Nets in Pennsylvania for Game 2 of their first-round playoff series.
During the game, James Harden made NBA history by moving up on the all-time playoff assists list.
The 2018 MVP came into the night with 935 assists and only needed three to move ahead of Hall of Famer Bob Cousy (937) for 16th on the list.
Harden is one of the best scorers ever to play but is also one of the most talented passers.
He averaged 10.7 assists per contest this season and has a career average of 7.0 assists.
The next player for Harden to pass on the list will be Jerry West (970).
The former Arizona State star is in his 14th season in the NBA and second playing for the 76ers (he’s also had stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets and Nets).
He is a ten-time All-Star and will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer one day.
This year, the 33-year-old helped lead the 76ers to a 54-28 record which has them as the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
Currently, they have a 1-0 lead over the Nets after winning Game 1 on Saturday 121-101.
Harden had 23 points, four rebounds, 13 assists and one steal in 36 minutes of playing time.
He also shot 8/21 from the field and 7/13 from the three-point range.
As for the Nets, they finished the year as the sixth seed in the east with a 45-37 record.
