On Friday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers are hosting the Boston Celtics for Game 3 of their second-round playoff series in Pennsylvania.

During the game, James Harden made NBA history by moving up on the all-time Playoff assists list.

The former Arizona State star entered the evening with 967 career Playoff assists and has now moved ahead of Hall of Famer Jerry West (970) for 15th on the list.

Following West, the next player for Harden to pass will be two-time NBA Champion Isiah Thomas (987).

Via the NBA: “Congrats to @JHarden13 of the @sixers for moving to 15th all-time in Playoff assists!”

Harden has the unique talent of being one of the best scorers and passers in NBA history.

For his career, the 33-year-old has averaged 24.7 points and 7.0 assists per contest (this year, he averaged 21.0 points and 10.7 assists).

He is in his second season with the 76ers after getting traded (via the Brooklyn Nets) in 2022.

They finished as the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 54-28 record and swept the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

After splitting the first two games with the Celtics in Boston, the series is tied up at 1-1 with Games 3 and 4 on their home floor.

The winner of the series will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals and face off against either the New York Knicks or the Miami Heat.

Harden has been to the NBA Finals once but has yet to win a title.
