Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes didn’t appear to have on-field handshake after Chiefs’ Super Bowl win

GLENDALE, Ariz. — There aren’t many scenes that turn more hectic than a postgame celebration at the Super Bowl. When the clock hits zeros, a stream of players, coaches, media and fans pour onto the field — making it obviously difficult to navigate.

But even through all those challenges, the quarterback handshake often happens around midfield as photographers battle to get a shot of the display of sportsmanship.

That didn’t appear to happen on Sunday night in Arizona.

When Jalen Hurts’ desperation pass fell incomplete to seal the Chiefs’ 38-35 win at Super Bowl 57 in Arizona, the Eagles quarterback was among several Philadelphia players who made their way towards the sidelines. He eventually jogged off the field and towards the tunnel by himself.

Now, it’s entirely possible that Hurts just preferred to head inside over fighting his way through the scrum of people — especially after a tough loss in the Super Bowl. After all, Tom Brady had been known to skip the postgame handshake after Super Bowl losses. This wouldn’t be unique to Hurts.

Yet, other Eagles players did stick around on the field to congratulate the Super Bowl champions. Mahomes and Jason Kelce shared a greeting shortly after the game ended.

If a handshake did happened, it took place behind closed doors.
