Strictly’s Shirley Ballas spun around by her ankles in dance
BBC presenter Jake Humphrey says he has been banned for life from ever competing on Strictly Come Dancing – by his wife.
The 44-year-old sport presenter has been married to childhood sweetheart Harriet since 2007 and together they share a daughter named Florence, nine, and a son named Sebastian, seven.
Harriet previously worked on Strictly Come Dancing as a production coordinator while Jake was busy working as a presenter commendation on the Formula 1.
Jake says he was asked many times to compete on Strictly, but his wife – having worked on the show and thus seen the infamous ‘curse’ in action – prohibited him from taking part.

Jake told The Sun on Sunday: “When I was doing Formula 1, I regularly had to field requests from Strictly but there were two reasons for not doing it.
“The first was that I was always away at that time of year and the second was that my wife worked on the show, and she was like: ‘You are never going on that show, I know what happens to couples that go on that show!’
“I was banned from doing that one.”
The ‘Strictly Curse’ is said to have ruined many a marriage and relationships since the BBC dance show began in 2004 as contestants and dance professionals have fallen for each other behind the scenes.

The alleged curse has it’s origins all the way back in season one as newreader Natasha Kaplinsky split from her long-term partner Mike Barnard and soon after started dating dance partner Brendan Cole.
Journalist Stacey Dooley split from her boyfriend Sam Tucknott soon after appearing on Strictly in 2018 – and subsequently embarked on a romance with dance partner Kevin Clifton.
And married dance pro’s Katya and Neil Jones saw their romance implode not so long after Katya was photographed snogging Seann Walsh in 2018.
Nadiya Byckkova, Max George, Louise Redknapp, Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev are among other named that have been linked to the curse.
Strictly 2023 may still be a few months away, but names are already beginning to fly in connection with the upcoming 21st season.
On Friday, Loose Women star Sophie Morgan was named as a potential 2023 participant – and she would be the first wheelchair user to feature as a contestant on the show.
A source claimed: “She is the ideal star to take on the role.
“Plus, she is very glamorous so will look amazing in the sequined costumes.

“She already has a huge fan base from Loose Women and is a huge advocate of using her platform to promote inclusivity.”
The source went on to claim that negotiations with the ITV star are still at the “very early” stages – but production of Strictly’s 21st season are expected to begin in the coming months.
