Justin Jefferson has showcased one singular celebration in his two-plus seasons in the NFL. When he hits the end zone, he hits the Griddy.

The Griddy is a dance move that blew up online around the turn of the decade. Jefferson, over the course of 25 touchdowns (and counting), has put the ball on the turf, thrown his Bs, then performed the iconic arm-swinging, heel-tapping move to the delight of the Minnesota Vikings faithful.

Green Bay Packers All-Pro Jaire Alexander has seen it before, including twice in 2021. And when Jefferson started off the 2022 season with a nine-catch, 184-yard, two touchdown performance in a Week 1 win over the Pack, he declared he wasn’t going to see it again. Alexander confidently called Jefferson’s opening day explosion a “fluke.” Then, after breaking up a pass headed Jefferson’s way early in the rematch in Wisconsin — a breakup that may or may not have involved some light pass interference — Alexander celebrated.

With Jefferson’s Griddy.

Alexander pulling off Jefferson’s signature move right in front of him after a botched play was endemic of the Vikings’ start to Sunday’s game. Minnesota was stuffed at the goal line, gave up a 105-yard kickoff return, gave up a 75-yard interception return, missed a field goal and saw another drive end with an interception in Packers territory en route to a 24-3 first half deficit.

Jefferson’s output in that stretch? Three targets, zero catches.
