Jadon Sancho was seen telling Bruno Fernandes to ‘stop moaning’ during Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

In Sunday’s meeting at Old Trafford, Fernandes gave the hosts the lead after 39 minutes, finding the back of the net after Emiliano Martinez had spilled Marcus Rashford’s effort on goal.

United enjoyed a bright start to the contest, creating a host of chances with Fernandes left exasperated after a move earlier in the game fell apart.

Having seemingly borne the brunt of his captain’s frustration, Sancho was seen on camera telling Fernandes to ‘stop moaning’.

But there were no lingering hard feelings, however, with Sancho the first United player over to celebrate with Fernandes after his opener.

The Portugal international has faced criticism for some of his on-field antics this season.

In March’s harrowing 7-0 defeat to Liverpool, the midfielder was widely condemned for his behaviour on the pitch, seen waving his arms around in frustration and berating teammates during the second-half collapse at Anfield.

Former United captains Roy Keane and Gary Neville labelled his behaviour ‘a disgrace’, with the former even suggesting Fernandes had demanded to be subbed off after his side fell five goals behind.

‘I kind of understand behind that but I can’t control that,’ Fernandes told Sky Sports when asked about Neville’s comments in an interview earlier this month.

‘We all know pundits have to say something to keep their work. The more bad things they say, the more work they get, sometimes.

‘We all have to live with that but for me, it’s about my team-mates being okay with that. Whenever they are not, I would like them to tell me so I can calm myself down.

‘Most of the things that were said after that game were complete lies. Because I waved my arms, they [assumed] that I said something that I didn’t say.

‘The pundits always want to say something to get attention and credit from the people outside. Sometimes they say something to say.’
