The Jacksonville Jaguars have released safety Deionte Thompson, the NFL team announced on Tuesday.
The former Alabama All-American spent 12 weeks of the regular season and two playoff weeks on the Jaguars’ practice squad during the 2022 season without getting into a game.

Jacksonville had re-signed Thompson on Feb. 13.
Thompson joined the Jaguars on Oct. 18 after being waived by the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 27.
Thompson played in the first three games of his fourth season with Arizona. He had played six defensive snaps and 49 special-teams plays before being released by the Cardinals last season.
Thompson earned recognition as a consensus All-American for Alabama in 2018 before joining Arizona as a fifth-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Thompson played in 44 NFL regular-season games and one playoff contest, with six starts, for the Cardinals. He has career totals of 54 tackles and three pass breakups while playing 661 defensive snaps and 582 special-teams plays.
