Jack Ross embarrassed by team of dummies but vows to fight on

Jack Ross, the Dundee United manager, apologised to the club’s supporters and said he could understand the speculation about his future after yesterday’s 9-0 thrashing by Celtic.

He has been in the job only nine weeks, but there are already big questions about how the club’s directors will react to a run of five straight defeats in which United have conceded 24 goals and become marooned at the foot of the Premiership.

While he insisted last night that he was committed to turning it round, he admitted that it had been a humiliating afternoon at Tannadice and that his players, who had defended “like mannequins”, had to take their share of responsibility.
