Six-time Grammy-nominated rapper Jack Harlow will perform the halftime show for the Thanksgiving matchup between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, the team announced on Monday.
The Kentucky native will take the stage at halftime, while country music duo The War And Treaty will perform the national anthem.
Harlow said that “it means the world” to him, according to Paloma Villicana of FOX5 Las Vegas.
Pop singer Bebe Rexha performed during halftime in the Lions’ 2022 Thanksgiving game, a 28-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Harlow currently has two No. 1 singles and over 10 billion total streams, while his 2020 album “Thats What They All Say” is RIAA platinum certified. The 25-year-old was named as Variety’s “Hitmaker of the Year” in 2021.
The music video accompanying his No. 1 hit “Industry Baby” featuring rapper and singer Lil Nas X won three MTV Video Music Awards. This included VMA’s for Best Collaboration, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction.
“If I’m being honest, I’ve kind of been racking my brain about how I want to do this halftime show, because it can’t be run of the mill,” Harlow said, per Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News. “It’s an opportunity, and you can either do the bare minimum or you can seize it. So we’re putting a lot of thought into it.”
Meanwhile, the Week 12 NFC North clash between the Lions and Packers could have major playoff implications for head coach Dan Campbell’s unit. With the team currently leading the division with a 5-2 record, Detroit will be attempting to secure its first postseason appearance since 2016.
