Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has reacted to Sunday night’s 3-0 defeat of Arsenal.
Dean Smith ‘s side eased to victory at the Emirates Stadium thanks to a Bukayo Saka own goal and Ollie Watkins’s brace.
Villa bounced back from a 4-3 defeat to Southampton that followed up a 3-0 reverse at home to Leeds United and got back to their early-season form.
Grealish was too hot for Arsenal to handle and was BirminghamLive ‘s man of the match, carving Mikel Arteta’s side open at will with one assist to his name taking his tally up to five goals and as many contributions in eight matches this season.
Indeed, he probably should have had two with John McGinn seeing a goal harshly ruled out 47 seconds in.
“Toyed with Arsenal throughout it has to be said,” BirminghamLive ‘s Villa correspondent, Ashley Preece, wrote of Grealish.
“Looks right at home on big stages like this, a ground he’s said is his favourite other than Villa Park.
“Combined with Matt Targett first off before finding McGinn for the get that was cancelled out.
“Showcased his class again, though, for Villa ‘s opener. The skipper played with Barkley, the pair waited patiently for a way in and went for the kill to find Targett who’s ball was converted home.
“Went agonisingly close after checking back before unleashing an effort which was saved by Leno. With 15 left Grealish came into his own with a powerful run from deep.
“He glided past Bellerin and slipped in Watkins for his seventh Premier League strike. Magic again from Villa’s magic man. Too good. Just too bloody good. It was a clinic out there, a Jack Grealish clinic.”
And Grealish has reacted to tonight’s game, posting a picture on Twitter of him and McGinn with Villa team-mate Ross Barkley with beaming smiles.
