Fans of Made in Chelsea will remember Sam Thompson’s turbulent love life from dating co-stars Tiffany Watson and Sophie Habboo to his girlfriend Zara McDermott pouring her eyes out on a bench in the London borough.
Sam, 31 shot to fame after he joined the hit Channel 4 reality TV show in 2013 as Jamie Laing’s intern at his sweet company Candy Kittens. He also joined his sister Louise Thompson on the show who made her debut on Made in Chelsea two years prior.
During his long stint on the show until 2021, Sam became a fan favourite with his humour and energetic character, despite getting himself into trouble on more than one occasion. But the 31 year old has no doubt been hugely successful from his time on the show and is now a presenter for Hits Radio, co-founder of the sunglasses brand Dinelli eyewear and hosts his podcast, Staying Relevant, alongside side his best pal Pete Wicks.

For his latest venture, Sam is heading onto I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! joining the likes of Josie Gibson, Nigel Farage, Danielle Harold and Marvin Humes. His jungle challenges comes just a few weeks after his long-term girlfriend Zara McDermott competed on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Zara has already expressed huge support for her TV star boyfriend as he heads down under, but it hasn’t always been easy for the couple who encountered a brief split amid a cheating scandal. Let’s take a closer look at Sam’s love life from his co-star romances to his doting relationship with Zara…
Tiffany Watson
Just a year after Sam joined Made in Chelsea, Tiffany Watson joined the cast in 2014 and the pair became a couple. Their romance was largely documented throughout the show before cheating rumours spiralled.

The couple split up but continued with a complicated on/off relationship for a few years before they finally called it quits for good in 2018. It remained slightly awkward between the pair as they both remained on the show but managed to find mutual grounds and move on as friends.
Amelia Lily
In 2017, Sam became a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother and hit things off with former X Factor star Amelia Lily. Sam finished the show in third place behind Sarah Harding and Amelia.

Sam and Amelia went on to date in the outside world. However, their romance didn’t last long and Sam later confessed to not treating her “very well.”
Sophie Habboo
Before Sophie Habboo tied the knot with Jamie Laing, Their relationship played out during series 15 and 16 of Made in Chelsea.
The relationship lasted six months before Sophie called things off in late 2018 expressing that Sam gave her too much attention. She told new magazine at the time: “His best [attribute] was he doted on my hand and foot, but his worst was maybe that he doted on me too much. Some girls like that, I don’t. For me, I don’t like someone who’s needy. Independence is key.

“[I would] Absolutely not [go back out with him]. He treated me well, he was lovely to me and he was a great boyfriend. I couldn’t fault him in any way but he wasn’t right for me, unfortunately.”
The pair remained as friends and Sam continued his close friendship with Jamie, despite the awkwardness when Sophie started dating Jamie. In 2023, Sam and Zara were among the guests to attend
Zara McDermott
Sam finally met his match with former 2018 Love Island star Zara McDermott. The pair started dating in 2019 and Zara became a full-time cast member on Made in Chelsea.
But their relationship hit a few rocky patches and a string of arguments unfolded on the show, mostly over his ex Tiffany. The couple managed to move past the tiffs and appeared stronger than ever.
That was until it was alleged that Zara had been unfaithful with someone else during her time on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019. Zara tearfully admitted the cheating scandal and the couple had an emotional breakdown of their relationship while on a park bench in Chelsea.

The scene showing Zara begging for forgiveness is still remembered to this day and has become a viral meme on TikTok. Zara admitted she had cheated on Sam when she thought their relationship was going to end.
She confessed to Jamie: “When it happened I genuinely thought that me and Sam were going to break up, inevitably.
“I just thought we were hanging on by a tiny thread and we’re going to break up.” In late 2020 the pair rekindled their romance after Zara continued to prove that Sam could trust her moving forward.
The happy couple now live in a sprawling London pad thought to be worth in the millions and are neighbours to sister Louise. They share two fur babies together Albus and Cedric and have gone from strength to strength ever since their relationship blip.
