ITV I’m A Celebrity’s Charlene White finally gives reason for RV refusal and tells Loose Women secret

Charlene White has finally explained why she has refused to sleep in the camp’s RV which has been causing frustration for viewers of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. The ITV News broadcaster was granted the small piece of jungle luxury last week when Matt Hancock was made camp leader and chose her as his deputy.

During their first evening as camp leader and deputy leader, Charlene was left far from impressed to discover a spider also making the RV home, and even spotted a creepy crawly in her bed. “I can’t do this tonight,” she cried. Then speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Charlene went on: “My bravery levels are done for today. I really don’t want to have to sleep in the RV.”

However, days have passed and Charlene is still refusing to sleep in the RV alongside Matt – in separate beds – and it’s led to viewers branding her ‘selfish’ and demanding action be taken over the rule break. Even Ant and Dec didn’t hold back when it came to the Charlene RV drama. Dec said during an Instagram Live: “Do you get it? I don’t get it,” as Ant replied: “Why would you not want to sleep in there? It can’t just be because of the spiders.”

He then asked: “Does she not want to sleep with Matt?” Dec suggested that could be the reason and fans were quick to reply in the comment agreeing that was why. But Ant insisted: “I think it might be that but you’ve got to think of others and if other people have to then sleep in a hammock because of your actions and have a bad back, then you’ve got to look at your actions.”

They have since confirmed that Charlene isn’t breaking the rules but during Friday night’s (November 18) episode of I’m A Celeb, Charlene finally gave a reason behind her decision not to sleep in the RV.

Following a trial shocker which saw her speak the words ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’, Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver asked if she had to get permission to appear in the ITV reality show due to her job on ITV News and asked if she had prepared for someone like Matt Hancock entering camp.

She said: “I’m an impartial journalist, I can’t be sharing a room with a sitting MP because that just doesn’t sit well with me impartiality wise. And I just think, if he were ever to become minister again how can I sit and question him about anything when I’ve shared a room with him?”

Sue replied: “It’s very, very tricky,” before commenting in the Bush Telegraph added: “I absolutely see her point. When Charlene was talking about having to have impartiality being a newsreader it made total sense to me why it wouldn’t be great for her to be in an RV with Matt. Awkward.”

Back in camp Charlene added: “I would say that every conversation we’ve had that Matt’s been here constantly involves me doing calculations in my head about impartiality and making sure it doesn’t go too much in one direction. Constantly thinking about those guidelines and the broadcasting rules. It’s a constant thing that’s in my head on a daily basis.”

She added: “He gets it. He understands it. He understands my job. It’s just a bizarre situation, but that’s how I live my life on a daily basis. On Loose I have to do it. That’s why I can only ever be host, I can’t be ‘panel’. If you are on the panel you are giving your personal opinion on stories.

“I am helping conduct and facilitating that debate while posing questions of the panel whilst providing impartiality. If they are going too far in one direction I can pull them back because I have the facts and figures in my head because of my day job. Then all you get is a load of tweets from viewers saying, ‘I knew she was a Boris lover. I knew it!'”
