This Morning: Josie Gibson heads into the I’m a Celeb jungle

Josie Gibson said she’d “never go back” to her ex after admitting he chose to to live in a campervan in her garden when she gave birth to their son, Reggie.

The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star, 38, began dating the property developer in 2017 revealing they had already known each other for 20 years. Josie announced she was pregnant in May 2018, at the same time as sharing she had suffered a miscarriage in late 2017.

Speaking about their romance at the time, the Big Brother star said: “I’ve always been with men who I’ve had to look after, and I knew that having kids with them would make my life a struggle. But Terry is brilliant – he’s been a friend of the family for almost 20 years, so I know he’s a good guy.”

However, just months after welcoming Reggie into the world and telling OK! magazine: “Terry goes to work, comes to the house to visit and then goes to the garden”, Josie called time on the couple’s relationship, insisting she’d “never go back”. Opening up about a bitter row over a pair of shoes she had with Terry, Josie revealed she and Reggie were forced to ring in 2019 in a hotel – calling it the “worst New Year’s ever”.

She told New magazine tensions had built because Terry was living in a caravan outside the home – while she did night feeds. Explaining things “kicked off” over Christmas, Josie said: “He’s got OCD and just after Christmas, he went mad about too many of my shoes being in the hallway. So I kicked off and said, ‘Well, we’ll go them!’ And he went, ‘Alright’, and bagged up our stuff. So Reggie and me headed to a hotel.”

The This Morning star added: “I’d never go back now. I need somewhere secure for me and Reg. I never wanted to be a single mother, obviously, but there are things you can’t let go.”

The presenter, who first shot to fame in 2010 when she appeared on Big Brother, told OK! she realised she was a “lot stronger” than Terry, stating: “It soon becomes apparent when you’re getting up every two hours to feed your child and he’s snoring his head off. Then he has the audacity to moan about lack of sleep. Having a baby does test your relationship!”

After their heartbreaking split, Josie appeared on Loose Women in January 2019 with tiny tot Reggie, announcing: “It’s not what I wanted to come back and say. I was so proud of our family unit and that we’d done it properly, but yeah I’m a single parent. It’s devastating really.” With tears in her eyes, she continued: “I was panicked over the thought of doing it all on my own, but you get this inner strength and you’ve just gotta get on with it, you’ve got no choice.”

However, then lockdown struck and Terry moved back in with Josie to help her look after Reggie. Explaining the unusual set-up to the Loose Women panel, Josie said: “He’s one of those people… You can’t live with him, you can’t live without it. It’s taken a pandemic, and a year and a half…and we’ve never got on so well!”

She also didn’t rule out a romantic reunion, saying that although they stay in different rooms, she “loves him to bits”. “When you’ve got a pandemic, you realise the little things are so trivial,” she said. “They don’t matter, they really don’t. What we used to argue about just seem so stupid and so trivial now.” Josie even said she “really hopes” Terry ‘stays with them’ post-lockdown.

However, in December 2021, the presenter revealed Terry was no longer living with her and Reggie, saying: “He’s [Terry] moved out now. I’m choosing to do it on my own for a little bit at the moment.”

In August, Josie told Keith Lemon there was someone new in her life, admitting: “There is someone in my life at the moment but it’s early stages. It’s that bit where you’ve got the flutters, can’t-wait-to see-them vibes – you get a little bit nervous.”

Her admirer’s identity is still a mystery, but they will no doubt be watching I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! as the Bristol-born star is already one of the favourites to be crowned Queen of the Jungle.
