ITS HAPPENING #ITSHAPPENING

Britney Spears may have told the world she’d see them in hell over the weekend, but if that’s not convenient, it seems you’ll also be able to find her in bookstores.

Spears’ hotly anticipated memoir, The Woman In Me, hit shelves Tuesday, and according to a celebratory post by Spears Tuesday night, is carrying on Spears’ hobby of shattering records.

“It’s happening !!!” Spears wrote in an emoji-strewn Instagram caption, as is her wont. (In the acknowledgments section of the memoir, she joked, “If you follow me on Instagram, you thought this book was going to be written in emojis, didn’t you?” with a bouquet’s worth of rose emojis.) “My book is the highest selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day 1 !!! Vanity Fair has reached out to Spears’ publisher, Simon & Schuster to verify sales numbers. Earlier this year, Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, reportedly sold more than 1.43 million copies across all formats in the U.S., Canada, and Britain on its release day January 10, capturing the record.

Even before its official release, the memoir has been making headlines, thanks to early leaks. In the book, Spears tells her side of the story that the world has seen from the outside, as fascinated readers of gossip sites and viewers of documentaries about Spears while, as she writes in the book, “I couldn’t say anything to defend myself. I wanted to explode.”
