Argentina, on the other hand, seeks to win the tournament and for Lionel Messi to finally get the one trophy he has yet to collect in his career full of gold.

Here’s what you need to know if you want to watch the exciting conclusion to this year’s World Cup:

Who is in the World Cup final?

Argentina will compete against France. France is the current World Cup champion, having defeated Croatia 4-2 in the final of the tournament held in Russia in 2018.

France is aiming to become the third team in history to win consecutive World Cup finals, following Italy (1934 and 1938) and Brazil (1958 and 1962).

Argentina, on the other hand, recently claimed the title of South American champions by defeating Brazil 1-0 in the 2021 Copa América final at the Maracanã Stadium. This marked Argentina’s first Copa América victory since 1993 and relieved the team of the pressure to win a major tournament with Lionel Messi on the roster.

When is the World Cup final?

Argentina and France will kick off the 22nd World Cup final at 8 a.m. Arizona time on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Messi’s hometown hope he will bring the World Cup
