Israeli Civilians, Soldiers Captured and Taken to Gaza

An Israeli military spokesman confirmed that some Israeli civilians and soldiers were captured by Hamas militants and taken into Gaza, calling them prisoners of war.

The spokesman, Daniel Hagari, said that some Israelis are still being held hostage in areas around the Gaza Strip. He said the Israeli military didn’t know the number of prisoners of war or hostages.

Hagari said Israeli forces are currently engaging Gazan militants in 22 different locations. In the towns of Ofakim and Kibbutz Be’eri, he said, there are still ongoing hostage situations and Israeli forces are battling there with Gaza militants.
