Israel Palestine LIVE: Yemen and Lebanon fire missiles across border amid rising tensions

Yemen and Lebanon have fired missiles across the Israeli border as tensions continue to rise in and around Gaza.

A large number of ballistic missiles and drones have been launched towards Israel by Yemen’s Houthis militant group today. It is the third attack targeting the country, a spokesperson for the group said, warning there are “more to come”.

Iran, which backs Hamas, is widely accused of supporting the Houthis, a movement that has been fighting Yemen’s Sunni-majority government since 2004.

And anti-tank missiles were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory – and Israel responded quickly, the country’s military says. The army said in Hebrew on X, formerly known as Twitter, that it also struck another group of fighters that planned to launch anti-tank missiles into Israel.

Israeli forces have, meanwhile, destroyed the family home of an exiled Hamas commander in the occupied West Bank. The property belonged to Saleh al-Arouri, the deputy to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Saleh al-Arouri, who is among a group of leaders singled out by Israeli officials, is currently believed to be living in southern Lebanon.

But Israeli troops blew up his old home in the early hours of this morning, witnesses said. There has been 18 months of escalating violence in the wider area around the building, but Israeli forces are now starting to clamp down.

The figure is an increase from the 8,306 deaths recorded yesterday. The health ministry also said 15 hospitals are out of service, along with 32 healthcare centres.
