Israeli jets bombed the entrance of Gaza’s biggest hospital, Al-Shifa, on Friday, leaving several people dead and wounded.

The hospital has been housing tens of thousands of displaced and wounded Palestinians. Israel previously told staff at the hospital to leave or it would be attacked.

At least 15 people have been killed, according to Al Jazeera.

Ashraf Al-Qedra, the spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health, said jets struck a convoy of critically wounded people at the gates of the hospital who were in ambulances on their way to the south of Gaza.

In a televised press conference, he said he asked the Red Cross to accompany the convoy to ensure its safety earlier in the day.

“We informed the Red Cross the convoy started moving when the convoy departed from Al-Shifa Hospital, but the occupation targeted it in more than one location while it was still close to the hospital’s entrance,” Qedra said.

An AFP journalist at the scene said they saw multiple bodies beside a damaged ambulance.

Bombs were also dropped in the courtyards of the Indonesian hospital and al-Quds hospital.

On Friday, the 28th day of Israeli-Palestinian hostilities, the death toll from the ongoing Israeli air strikes on Gaza reached at least 9,227 people, including 3,826 children, according to health officials.

Israeli fighter jets killed at least seven people in air strikes targeting a cemetery in Gaza on Friday, local media reported, with many of those killed or wounded from those working at the cemetery.

Dead bodies were seen strewn across the al-Rasheed roads in Gaza, as Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire while they tried to flee from the north to the south of Gaza, according to Al Jazeera Arabic.
