Israel flags were spotted inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of Spurs’ Monday night clash against Fulham.

The two sides held a minute’s silence amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict as a mark of respect for those affected, with all other Premier League sides doing the same across the weekend.

Players, managers and match officials have also worn black armbands.

During Tottenham’s minute silence, talkSPORT’s commentator for the game Sam Matterface stated there were Israel flags being held up inside the ground.

“Well Spurs did say all Israeli flags and banners would be removed, as would any other flags or banners that would be considered inflammatory,” he said, live from the ground.

“There were at least seven Israeli flags that I saw were being held up inside the stadium.

“Spurs have a long-standing association with the Jewish community, it’s meant they’re supporters have felt it keenly and some were always intent on showing their support tonight.”

talkSPORT’s presenter Adrian Durham posted an image of one of the flags on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“A shout of ‘Long Live Israel’ at the start of the minute’s silence,” he wrote. “And a number of Israel flags held aloft in the crowd.”

Tottenham urged fans not to bring flags or banners in support of Israel or Palestine for the game.

The club emailed supporters to remind them of the club policy prohibiting “flags of any political or religious affiliation or anything that could possibly be considered inflammatory [including] national flags during times of political conflict”.
