Most mail services are open on Black Friday. Here we look at the hours for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), FedEx and UPS on the day.
U.S. Postal Service
While the USPS is closed on Thanksgiving Day, it remains open on Black Friday. Mail delivery services should operate on normal hours on Black Friday.
The opening and closing times vary by branch. See the store locator at the USPS website for the exact times of your nearest post office.
USPS branches are closed during the following federal holidays:
FedEx
The FedEx Express service in the U.S. is operating a modified service on Black Friday, offering “early on-call and drop box pickups in some areas,” FedEx advises.
FedEx Office locations are either open by 7 a.m. local time or at their normal hours on Black Friday. Contact your local FedEx Office location for more information.
The FedEx Freight service is closed on Black Friday, while all FedEx services are closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Various FedEx services are either closed or on a modified schedule during federal holidays, including Christmas and New Year’s Day.

UPS
UPS pick-up and delivery services are available on Black Friday as well as on Thanksgiving, while the UPS Store locations are also open on both days.
“UPS Freight is closed. Delivery service is not available unless scheduled in advance. Pickups can be scheduled in advance with your local Service Center or Urgent Services Department at 1-800-644-0900,” both on Black Friday and Thanksgiving, the company advises on its website.
The UPS Express Critical service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. See the UPS Express Critical website for more details.
From March 26 until further notice, the company suspended the UPS Service Guarantee for all shipments from any origin to any destination. The suspension has been in effect from March 24 for all U.S. origin shipments, according to the company.
“On UPS holidays—Nov. 26, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1—there is no movement of any packages tendered to UPS, regardless of the date of tender (except packages tendered for UPS Express Critical service),” the company noted.
