Streaming options were limited, with only three games on Tuesday’s schedule. The biggest development occurred in Cleveland, with Anthony Davis exiting the Lakers’ loss to the Cavaliers after eight minutes due to flu-like symptoms. According to TNT, he’d been dealing with his illness throughout the day but attempted to play anyway. Davis’s premature exit and the absence of Wenyen Gabriel (shoulder) meant more rotation minutes for Thomas Bryant, who has largely been an afterthought since making his season debut on November 18. To his credit, Thomas made the most of the opportunity, recording a line of 19 points, nine rebounds, one assist, and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes.
Rostered in 6% of Yahoo leagues, Bryant is worthy of streaming consideration ahead of the Lakers’ game in Toronto on Wednesday. Of course, there’s the illness that Davis is dealing with, but fantasy managers should also factor in the possibility of LeBron James getting a night off. If that were to happen, Austin Reaves (19% Yahoo) and Troy Brown Jr. (3%) would also be in a position for increased fantasy value.
Alec Burks (24%)
Since making his Pistons debut on November 11, Burks has averaged 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 0.9 steals, and 1.8 3-pointers in 20.5 minutes per game, which has been good for 13th-round per-game value. That isn’t “great,” but Cade Cunningham (shin) still being sidelined has impacted Burks and Killian Hayes. Burks had another good night on Tuesday, finishing the 20-point win over the Heat with 18 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and four 3-pointers in 22 minutes. There won’t be much defensive value to be had in adding Burks, but the offensive numbers are there.
Tim Hardaway Jr. (60%)
Story continues
At this point, you aren’t going to find Hardaway on the waiver wire of competitive leagues, with no shortage of fantasy managers looking to benefit from the heater he’s on. Thanks to THJ, the Mavericks won a game Luka Dončić wasn’t the team’s leading scorer for the first time this season, as he scored 29 points with three rebounds, two assists, three steals, and six 3-pointers. Also, Hardaway became the 10th player in league history to make at least five 3-pointers in five consecutive games. Can we fully trust Hardaway? Or should there still be some concern, given the streaky nature of his career?

Max Strus (50%)
Even with the Heat getting healthier in recent games, Strus remains rostered in 50% of Yahoo leagues. With the way he played in previous starts, there were hopes that Strus would come through on Tuesday as he filled in for Jimmy Butler (injury management). That didn’t happen, with Strus scoring 11 points with four rebounds, two assists, one block, and three 3-pointers. Managers looking solely for the points and 3-pointers may have been fine with that line, but Strus is capable of more. In 14 starts, he’s averaging 15.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 3.1 3-pointers in 35.3 minutes, shooting 41% from the field. Fantasy managers, especially in shallower leagues, now have to decide if they want to hold onto Strus or move on. Butler should be available for Thursday’s game against the Clippers, thus limiting Strus’ fantasy value.
Another Heat player who received fantasy attention on Tuesday was Victor Oladipo (12% rostered), who made his season debut. He played 19 minutes off the bench, finishing with nine points, two rebounds, two assists, and one 3-pointer. Given the amount of time missed, much shouldn’t be expected of Oladipo immediately, but he is worth keeping an eye on.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (43%)
KCP was in the midst of a difficult stretch ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Mavericks, as he averaged 6.8 points per game on 40.6% shooting in his last five. It was good to see him snap out of that funk, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and finishing with 12 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block, and two 3-pointers in 30 minutes. Caldwell-Pope is worth holding onto while the Nuggets are without Michael Porter Jr., even if Bruce Brown has benefitted more. Brown’s rostered in 64% of Yahoo leagues, so we’re well past the point where he would be available in competitive leagues.
Kevin Love (44%)
We close with the interesting case of Love, who only played nine minutes Tuesday night. He’s still playing with a hairline fracture in his right thumb, which is a matter of pain tolerance. The veteran forward departed for the locker room during the second half and did not return, and the reason is unknown. Isaac Okoro picked up a few rotation minutes, but he only played nine as the Cavs essentially went with a seven-man rotation. The good news is that Cleveland is off until Friday, so there’s time to address whatever issue led to Love exiting Tuesday’s game. Okoro would not be worth streaming if Love misses Friday’s game.
