Is Kris Murray related to Keegan Murray?
Kris and Keegan are twin brothers born on August 19, 2000 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, U.S.
The two brothers are near mirror images of one another. Kris is a 6-8, 220-pound power forward/small forward for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Keegan is also 6-8 and plays power forward for the Sacramento Kings.
The two were teammates at Iowa for two seasons. In that time they lead the Hawkeyes to a 2022 Big Ten men’s basketball tournament championship.
Keegan was selected No. 4 overall by the Kings in the 2022 NBA Draft. He was named to the All-Rookie First Team after smashing Donovan Mitchell’s record (187) for most 3-pointers made by a rookie, finishing with 206 for the season, good for 15th in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Kris is heading to Portland after being selected with the No. 23 overall pick by the Trail Blazers in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Kenyon Murray is father to Kris and Keegan. Michelle Murray is their mother.
Kris and Keegan’s family also includes two other siblings; a sister McKenna, and an adopted brother Demetrius.
Much like Kris and Keegan, their father Kenyon Murray was also a college basketball player. Kenyon was regarded as the top scholar-athlete at the McDonald’s High School All-American game and was named Michigan’s Mr. Basketball before attending the University of Iowa, playing for four years.
After college, Kenyon played professionally in the CBA and IBL, before serving as an assistant men’s coach at Indian Hills Community College.
Kenyon has been working as a basketball coach for over 10 years and currently coaches his daughter’s Cedar Rapids Praire girl’s team.
