Irvington’s Janasia Wilson tallies her 1,000th career point in win over Orange – Girls basketball recap

In Saturday’s contest against Orange, Janasia Wilson further solidified herself as one of the best athletes in Irvington girls basketball history.

The junior point guard recorded her 1,000th career point in a dominant 44-23 victory in Mount Vernon Elementary School in Newark, hitting the mark in the second quarter of the game. Wilson finished with a terrific stat line of 23 points, seven rebounds, and seven steals in the contest.

Wilson, who has tallied 1,015 points in her career thus far, is currently averaging 24.1 points per game this season.

Irvington (12-2) used a 17-8 second-quarter run to take a 10-point lead at halftime. In the second half, Irvington continued to surge, going on an 11-4 run to push its lead to 17.

Faith Phillips recorded a double-double for Irvington, recording 10 points and 11 rebounds. Yadira Marshall added eight points and tallied five steals.
