Inside Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger’s tumultuous 23-year-long relationship

Jerry Hall and her media tycoon husband Rupert Murdoch are getting a divorce, according to The New York Times. We take a look at the model’s relationship with her ex, Mick Jagger.
It has been claimed that Murdoch’s separation, should it happen, is unlikely to alter the ownership structure of his media businesses. He holds stakes in the parent companies of Fox News and The Wall Street Journal. He is also involved with foreign news brands like The Sun in Britain and Sky News in Australia.
The couple’s reported split has inspired many discussions on social media – one of the most prominent ones is Jerry’s previous relationship with English singer Mick Jagger.

Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger were one of the entertainment industry’s most talked-about couples back in the ’70s and ’80s.
The pair reportedly met while they were both involved in separate relationships. Mick was married to his then-wife Bianca, while Jerry was with her fiancé at the time, Bryan Ferry.
“Bryan was flattered by Mick’s attention, but he could also see that Mick was smitten with me. It couldn’t have been nice for him,” Jerry wrote in her 2010 book, Jerry Hall: My Life in Pictures.
People reported that Mick and Jerry’s relationship overlapped with the end of the singer’s marriage to Bianca in 1978.

Mick and Jerry’s relationship wasn’t a very stable one. Both media and fans were swept in their highs and lows.
As reported by People, Mick had told the Detroit Free Press that Jerry was “impossible to live with” after she stopped smoking.”
Jerry revealed that she had given an ultimatum to Mick: “I told him I couldn’t see him if he took drugs, saying, ‘Go away and don’t come back until you’re straight.’ He succeeded — he had amazing willpower,” she wrote decades later.
The pair broke up briefly in 1982 and Jerry reportedly began dating a wealthy horse breeder named Robert Sangster. “We just broke up for a while,” Mick then said, as per Rolling Stone.
The following year, the pair got back together.
In 1984, they welcomed their firstborn, Elizabeth Scarlett “Lizzy” Jagger.

In 1992, the couple broke up once again around the time of the birth of their daughter, Georgia May.
Reports claim that Mick had visited model (and future first lady of France) Carla Bruni in Thailand.
“I felt sick when I realized Mick was still seeing Carla,” Jerry told reporters. “I can confirm that we’re separated, and I suppose we will get a divorce. I’m in too much pain for this to go on any longer.”
However, Carla denied her involvement with Mick. She was quoted by People saying, “He’s a fossil. His wife can keep him,” but this did not stop the rumours.
The full and final break up in 1999
Jerry finally filed for divorce in 1999, however, she and Mick tied the knot in a Hindu ceremony, which was never legally binding. The model was thus granted an annulment instead.

Another scandal hit the couple in 1999, when tabloids began claiming that model Luciana Morad was carrying Mick’s child. The rumours were indeed true.
Speaking to The Guardian about it, Jerry said: “I didn’t like the idea of annulling after 23 years and four children. It seemed a bit rude.”
The pair share four children: Georgia May (30), James (36), Elizabeth (38) and Gabriel Jagger (24).
