ITV presenter Fiona Phillips has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 62.
Luckily, Fiona’s husband, This Morning editor Martin Frizell, is by her side.
After suffering with brain fog and anxiety for months, the columnist was diagnosed with the illness a year ago.
Now, the presenter is undergoing trials for a new revolutionary drug which scientists hope could help those suffering with the illness by stalling, and even reversing, its affects.
The former TV host said the disease had ‘ravaged’ her family, as she lost her mum, dad, uncle, and grandparents to it.
Although Fiona thought she ‘might’ be diagnosed at 80, she was ‘angry’ to receive the devastating news so young after it had impacted her life in ‘so many ways’ already.

Martin weighed in on the discussion with The Mirror, filling in the gaps in Fiona’s memory, as he explained how his wife began experiencing crippling anxiety and brain fog.
The 64-year-old ITV boss is caring for Fiona during this difficult time.
He told the publication: ‘Before I didn’t ever have to worry about Fiona before and now I do. “What is she doing all day while I’m at work? What is she doing in the evening if I’m out? what has she eaten?”‘
The couple first met when Fiona was working at GMTV as a presenter, and Martin was chief correspondent at the show.
After a little hesitancy from Fiona – who was tempted to take her free-spirited father’s advice and not marry – the pair decided to tied the knot in 1997 in Las Vegas after only a month of dating.

It was only recently, ahead of her tell-all interview being published, that Fiona agreed her sons needed to know about her diagnosis, as they were most likely already seeing changes in her.
Fiona and Martin took blood tests to see if their children would inherit the disease after the diagnosis, as it runs in families.
‘We wanted to know in case we needed to prepare the boys to make some difficult decisions later in life,’ Martin explained.
Thankfully, the results came back negative, which was an ‘enormous relief’.
Back in 2008, Fiona announced she was leaving GMTV for ‘family reasons’, saying it was the ‘hardest decision’ she’d ‘ever made’.
She said: ‘I love the job but I’ve got other responsibilities – the children, a home life and an elderly dad who needs me – and I’ve recognised that I can’t have it all.’
