20:09 (IST)

After 30 overs,England 194/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 95 , Ben Stokes 39)

After the boundary off the first ball, Shardul corrects his line and length to beat Stokes on the cut. Bairstow almost hands a simple catch to bowler as he fails to read a slower one. Lucky for him the ball bounces before Shardul could take it. A single to end the over. Six off it.

20:06 (IST)

Short and wide from Shardul. Stokes slashes hard, gets an outside edge and the ball races to the third man fence.

20:05 (IST)

After 29 overs,England 188/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 94 , Ben Stokes 34)

Kuldeep continues. After three good deliveries, Bairstow takes the attack to the spinner and clears the boundary with a huge six. He moves into the 90s. England have wickets in hand so the required run rate of 7.1 shouldn’t be a big concern yet. Eight off the over.

20:02 (IST)

Tossed up delovery from Kuldeep. Bairstow sends the ball into the stands behind long-on. Huge six!

20:00 (IST)

After 28 overs,England 180/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 87 , Ben Stokes 33)

Bairstow once again manages to score a boundary off the first two balls. He then tries a pull but gets an underedge into the pads for no run. A single off the final ball to keep strike for the next over. Five from this one. 157 more requires from 132 balls.

19:57 (IST)

Length ball by Bhuvneshwar. Bairstow smashes the ball past the fielder at mid-off.

19:56 (IST)

After 27 overs,England 175/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 82 , Ben Stokes 33)

Poor ball from Kuldeep and it deserves a boundary but then he comes back well. Bowls a tossed up ball to Stokes and it turns away sharply from the batsman. Stokes goes for the shot and gets beaten. Kuldeep should trust his slower deliveries because there’s spin on offer from this pitch. Five from the over.

19:53 (IST)

Slow, short and outside the leg stump from Kuldeep. Bairstow swings his bat hard and finds the boundary in the fine-leg region.

19:52 (IST)

After 26 overs,England 170/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 77 , Ben Stokes 33)

So Bhuvneshwar is back into the attack. Good start from the pacer, three dots to Bairstow. The batsman gets off strike with a drive to deep point. Stokes then pushes the ball to deep mid-wicket and calls for two. It results in a direct hit from Kuldeep and looks like Stokes is in trouble. The third-umpire takes his time with the replays and finally calls not-out. Probably the right decision but that’s lazy running from Stokes. Three from the over.

19:43 (IST)

After 25 overs,England 167/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 76 , Ben Stokes 31)

Shardul has the ball now. He dugs in short, Bairstow pulls but doesn’t get the boundary. Good effort from Kuldeep at deep square-leg boundary as he saves two runs from his dive. The pacer then bowls a terrific delivery to beat Stokes. In the final ball, Stokes tries a scoop shot but misses it. The required run-rate is now 6.8. 170 runs needed from 25 overs.

19:39 (IST)

After 24 overs,England 164/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 73 , Ben Stokes 31)

Krunal continues. Bairstow slogsweeps the second ball through mid-wicket and collects two runs. He tries the sweep again but misses it. The next ball is wide and short, Bairstow slashes it for just one. The final ball goes for a six from Stokes. Another ordinary over from the spinner. Four overs and he concedes 37 runs.

19:37 (IST)

Poor ball from Krunal. Short and Stokes pulls it over the line on the leg-side. The runs are flowing for England.

19:35 (IST)

After 23 overs,England 154/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 70 , Ben Stokes 24)

Runs for England in this over. The short stuff from Krishna is not doing anything good for the team. When he goes fuller, Bairstow is then able to time his shots really well. The pacer needs to try something else. 12 off the over.

19:32 (IST)

Another one. This time Bairstow goes straight down the ground. Dhawan at mid-off dives but it’s not good enough.

19:31 (IST)

Short from Krishna. Bairstow pulls this one square of the boundary.

19:30 (IST)

After 22 overs,England 142/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 59 , Ben Stokes 23)

Krunal continues. Stokes tries a big shot against a ball down the leg but he misses it. It’s a wide but batsmen manage to take a single. It could’ve been a good over but Stokes had other ideas. Bad ball and he ensures it is over the boundary line. A six to end the over.

19:28 (IST)

Short from Krunal and Stokes sends the ball over backward square-leg for his first maximum.

19:25 (IST)

After 21 overs,England 130/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 56 , Ben Stokes 16)

Prasidh Krishna is back. Virat Kohli is thinking about what happened in the previous match. Krishna’s second spell changed the game a few days back. After three dots, Stokes and Bairstow run well to complete two. Two more dots in the over so it’s a good one from the pacer.

19:21 (IST)

After 20 overs,England 128/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 56 , Ben Stokes 14)

Krunal Pandya impressed with the bat in the previous match but not much with the ball. This will be a big test again. Stokes will take the attack to him so he needs to careful. 10 off this over.

19:20 (IST)

That effort from Rohit!

19:20 (IST)

Ben Stokes into the act. Tossed up delivery by Krunal Pandya, Stokes picks it and sends it over long-on.

19:19 (IST)

After 19 overs,England 118/1

Kuldeep continues. This is much better line from the spinner. Not offering any room to Bairstow to free his arms. Stokes tries a slog sweep but it ends up in a single. Just two runs from this over.

19:15 (IST)

After 18 overs,England 116/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 53 , Ben Stokes 5)

Krunal Pandya is introduced into the attack. Stokes tries to take him on but he only manages to edge it. There’s no slip in place so two runs for the batsman. Five off the over. The first ODI turned around after the fall of first wicket so it can happen again. We’ll see.

19:12 (IST)

After 17 overs,England 111/1 ( Jonny Bairstow 52 , Ben Stokes 1)

Before the run-out, Bairstow and Roy did well to complete two runs. In the next ball, Rohit’s effort proved to be the difference. That wicket will lift India’s spirit up. Ben Stokes is the new man in and there’s a LBW appeal against him. Nitin Menon says no but Indians take the review. No shot offered but the ball is missing the stumps. So review lost but it’s a good over for the hosts.

19:12 (IST)

Jonny loves playing against India in white-ball cricket!

19:09 (IST)

RUN-OUT!

The partnership is broken thanks to brilliant fielding from Rohit at mid-wicket. He dives to his right to stop the ball and that causes confusion between the batsman and in the end, Roy walks back to the dressing room. Roy run out (Rohit/Pant) 55(52)

19:05 (IST)

Kuldeep to Bairstow and once again he clears the straight boundary. That’s half-century for him as well.

19:05 (IST)

The deadly duo

19:02 (IST)

After 16 overs,England 102/0 ( Jason Roy 55 , Jonny Bairstow 44)

So after successive scores in 40s, Roy makes it count in this innings and goes past the 50-run mark. He struggled in the beginning but once he got into the groove, he punished the bowlers. And both batsmen bring up 100-run stand. Just like how they did it in the first ODI. 15 off the over and umpires call for drinks.

18:58 (IST)

Another six! Shardul pitches up and Bairstow flicks this one over deep square-leg. Wow!

18:57 (IST)

Another one of Roy’s drive over bowler’s head. The timing is not right but still good enough to clear the straight boundary.

18:57 (IST)

After 15 overs,England 87/0 ( Jason Roy 54 , Jonny Bairstow 30)

After Roy’s maximum, Bairstow tries to go aerial but fails to get the connection on this shot. This time the ball bounces before Hardik collects it. Six, four singles and a dot to end the over.

18:54 (IST)

Roy goes hard against Kuldeep. Is this a catching chance? No. Just above Hardik at long-on.

18:53 (IST)

After 14 overs,England 77/0 ( Jason Roy 46 , Jonny Bairstow 28)

Shardul continues. Roy gets a leading edge and the ball is in the air but it’s safe. Shardul then bowls a beauty to Bairstow, the ball jags away going past the outside edge and it’s a good take from keeper Pant. A lovely six and then two dots to end the over.

18:52 (IST)

Oh shot! Fuller delivery from Shardul, Bairstow gets the timing right and pushes it over long-on for a maximum. Just pure timing!

18:49 (IST)

After 13 overs,England 68/0 ( Jason Roy 43 , Jonny Bairstow 22)

Kuldeep continues, two singles off first two balls. The third ball turns sharply into the batsman as Roy fails to read it. The batsman then tries a slog but didn’t connect it well and it results in only a single. Bairstow tries a sweep but misses and umpire’s signals it wide. Kuldeep thinks Bairstow might’ve gloved it. Four off the over.

18:45 (IST)

After 12 overs,England 64/0 ( Jason Roy 41 , Jonny Bairstow 21)

Shardul starts off with a wide down the leg. Checks in his line in the next two deliveries. Bairstow plays a nice-looking drive but it is straight to the fielder at mid-on. Roy hits the final ball in the air through covers but there’s no fielder there. Much better over from Shardul, just three runs. England need another 273 runs in 38 overs.

18:40 (IST)

After 11 overs,England 61/0 ( Jason Roy 40 , Jonny Bairstow 20)

Kuldeep Yadav into the attack. He starts off bowling slightly slower than usual. The line is good so Bairstow doesn’t take any risk of hitting big shots. The final ball is short, Bairstow goes hard on the pull but finds fielder at deep backward square-leg.

18:36 (IST)

After 10 overs,England 59/0 ( Jason Roy 39 , Jonny Bairstow 19)

Shardul Thakur into the attack. He’s in fine form in terms of taking wickets. Let’s see if he’s successful in breaking the opening partnership. After bowling good length deliveries, he goes short and gets punished by Bairstow. Another boundary off the final ball. Shardul goes for runs in his early overs so this is not something of a surprise.

18:35 (IST)

Back of a length delivery from Shardul and room offered to Bairstow. The batsman punches the ball through covers off backfoot. Solid shot!

18:33 (IST)

Short from Shardul, Bairstow grabs the chance and hits it over mid-wicket.

18:30 (IST)

After 9 overs,England 51/0 ( Jason Roy 39 , Jonny Bairstow 11)

Bhuvi traps Roy in front of the wickets and appeals for a LBW! Nitin Menon, the on-field umpire, is not interested. The bowler speaks to Kohli and decides against taking the review. Ball-tracking shows the ball clipping the stumps so it’s fine for Kohli. A boundary followed by a single. End of the ninth over.

18:28 (IST)

Bhuvi goes for the pads but Bairstow flicks it to the right of short fine-leg fielder. Krishna dives but fails to stop the ball.

18:25 (IST)

After 8 overs,England 46/0 ( Jason Roy 39 , Jonny Bairstow 6)

Krishna to Roy and guess what? First ball is short but there’s fielder at deep square-leg so one run. Bairstow gets one to free his arms but the timing is not right. Goes too early for a fuller ball. He then takes a  quick single to get off strike. A dot and a boundary to end the over.

18:24 (IST)

Short and wide from Krishna. Roy says thank you with a cut over point for his seventh boundary in the innings.

18:19 (IST)

After 7 overs,England 40/0 ( Jason Roy 34 , Jonny Bairstow 5)

Bhuvi to Roy, in-swinger first up, Roy pushes it too mid-on for no runs. Then Bhuvi bowls short and Roy finds runs again in this over. Two back-to-back boundaries. The short stuff against Roy is not working. It’s better to pitch the ball up against him. 10 off the over.

18:17 (IST)

Raining boundaries. This time Roy goes straight down the ground for a back of a length ball from Bhuvi.

18:17 (IST)

One more boundary for Roy. Short ball from Bhuvi, Roy cuts it over keeper’s head. Nicely done!

18:15 (IST)

After 6 overs,England 30/0 ( Jason Roy 25 , Jonny Bairstow 5)

After the initial struggle, Roy scores much-needed runs in Krishna’s over. Not great bowling and Roy ensures he punishes the bowler with three boundaries off short deliveries. Could’ve been four fours if not for Kohli’s good stop at covers. in the final ball. 13 off the over.

18:12 (IST)

Another boundary. Third of the over. Short, Roy places it to the left of short third man fielder.

India vs England Live Score, Live Cricket Score, 2nd ODI at Pune Live Updates: Kuldeep continues. After three good deliveries, Bairstow takes the attack to the spinner and clears the boundary with a huge six. He moves into the 90s. England have wickets in hand so the required run rate of 7.1 shouldn’t be a big concern yet. Eight off the over.

Preview: With momentum on their side, Virat Kohli’s India will aim to clinch the second ODI and seal the series against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Friday.

After winning the T20I series, India went on earn victory in the first ODI by 66 runs. Batting first, India scored 317/5, while England, after getting a great start, collapsed and were bowled out for 251.

Eoin Morgan will miss this match and the next one due to injury so Jos Buttler will lead the side in his absence. Sam Billings will also unavailable for the second match and Liam Livingstone is set to make his ODI debut on Friday. The ECB said Dawid Malan has been drafted into the squad and is available for selection.

Morgan went through a fielding drill during training at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday and afterwards declared himself unfit.

“I had the hand re-dressed before the start of training today but it quickly became apparent that I found myself protecting the injury and getting into the wrong positions to catch the ball,” said Morgan in an ECB statement.

“There’s nowhere to hide on the field in international cricket these days, especially in limited-over formats so it didn’t require any great thought to make myself unavailable,” the 2019 World Cup-winning skipper added.

Meanwhile, Livingstone believes he is now better prepared for the challenges of international cricket.

“I am absolutely ready – the first time around was very different to now and I have been waiting for this opportunity for a while now,” he said.

“This is not just any old team you are trying to get into. They are world champions.”
