Ontario’s sunny break will unfortunately be painfully shortlived.
An incoming Colorado low could make roads slick in parts of southern Ontario Tuesday morning, as a band of freezing rain is forecast to slip across the region beginning in the pre-dawn hours and continuing through the early afternoon.

Major impacts are not expected as the freezing rain is not expected to be too heavy or prolonged, however, plan for roads and surfaces to possibly be icy when getting ready for the commute on Tuesday.
Ice accretion will be minimal at most, with upwards of 5 mm of icy precipitation north of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and towards the higher elevations of southern Ontario.

This event is the first of two possible icy events for southern Ontario this week. As the jet stream becomes more amplified, a more active storm track will set up into the Great Lakes, leading to another potential Colorado low later in the week.
While this system is still a few days away, prepare for another round of icy, unsettled weather Thursday and possibly into Friday. This system will likely draw some colder air to the region, leading to a swath of snow to central parts of the province on the tail end of the system.
