In Talking About ‘Frozen 3,’ Bob Iger Lets Slip There’s a ‘Frozen 4’ Happening, Too

Do you want to build a franchise? Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that in addition to “Frozen 3,” a fourth “Frozen” film is in the process of creatively defrosting.

During a “Good Morning America” segment, Iger announced from Hong Kong Disneyland that “Frozen 4” “might” happen soon.

“Well, I’ll give you a little surprise there Michael,” Iger said to host Michael Strahan. “‘Frozen 3‘ is in the works and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works, too. But, I don’t have much to say about those films right now. But Jenn Lee, who created ‘Frozen,’ the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”

Disneyland recently opened the World of “Frozen” at the Hong Kong theme park.

“Essentially, they are the physical embodiment of some of the greatest stories that we’ve told,” Iger said of the “immersive worlds” inside Disney Land. “And of course, ‘Frozen’ being one of our most valuable franchises, as you mentioned, a very successful film, I think it’s just right for building the place that ‘Frozen’ takes place in. It’s just a fantastic land that enables people to get immersed in the story of ‘Frozen’ and interact with all the great characters from the films.”

Iger continued, “I think the best thing is you visit and you actually can meet Olaf and Anna and Elsa and all the gang from ‘Frozen.’ Of course there’s great attractions, but there’s also great restaurants. I think the thing that’s great about it is you actually feel like you’re in the place that the movie took place in. And it just gives you this powerful sense of story that I think people have grown to love over the last decade.”

Oscar-winning “Frozen” debuted in 2013 and was followed by sequel “Frozen 2” in 2019, which became the 13th highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing Walt Disney Animation Studio film with $1.45 billion at the global box office. A third installment was announced in 2023.

The films follow sisters Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell) as the two princesses grapple with Elsa’s emotionally inflicted ice powers. Both “Frozen” films were co-directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and featured songs from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
