In-form Ulster Elks bid to pile pain on Pegasus in reunion with Alex Speers

The two sides have had differing starts to the campaign, with the University team taking four points to date while their Belfast rivals remain pointless.

Elks come into the game off the back of an away draw against Old Alex last weekend and a 3-1 victory the previous week.

Their start to this campaign has continued their unbeaten League run, which dates back over a year following their promotion.

However, they will be coming up against a familiar face when last season’s top scorer, Alex Speers, takes on her former side for the first time.

The 164-times-capped former Ireland international played a key role in Elks’ promotion last season, but has since returned to the club where she has spent most of her playing days.

Pegasus have got off to a slow start since her return having lost both their opening games to Loreto and Railway Union.

Saturday’s all-Ulster clash could see Pegasus kickstart their campaign, while Speers will be hoping she can halt her former team’s impressive progress.

There are also three fixtures in the Legacy Ulster Women’s Premier League today, with Ards and Belfast Harlequins going head-to-head.

The two sides were both relegated from the EYHL last season, making them early favourites to be in the title mix this year.

Ards go into this fixture as the League’s early pacesetters with maximum points, with opponents Quins having won two out of their three games.

The second game of the day sees Lisnagarvey looking to make it two wins in a row as they take on Lurgan.

Having lost their first two games of the season, two goals from Scarlett Swann helped Garvey bounce back with a resounding 6-2 victory over Omagh last week.

However, they face a tough task today as they take on last season’s runners-up who are unbeaten so far.

The final game of the day will see Queen’s University look to bounce back from defeat last week as they travel to Armagh.

The Students currently sit second in the League and started this term in fine form, with two wins before a shock loss to a youthful Portadown last week.
