Charlene White is part of this year’s campmates in the Australian jungle for the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The presenter, 42, spoke about her decision to go on the show and how a special person in her life gave her some advice: “My partner is also mostly shocked I am doing this. We made the decision together but he was like, ‘I have no idea how you are going to cope!’”

Charlene, who made history at the age of 22 when she became the youngest senior journalist at the BBC, is notoriously private about her family life but the jungle may inspire her to share more.

She has been in a long-term relationship with her partner Andy, but her Loose Women co-stars have referred to him as her husband, and the couple have a son named Alfie and a daughter named Florence together.

Despite keeping her private life close to her chest, Charlene has nonetheless offered glimpses in to her home and family life via social media.

Charlene and Andy welcomed their in August 2017 and their daughter in October 2019 and the family live together in South London.

Charlene discussed her children’s playful relationship in an Instagram post before as she wrote: “They love playing together, and Alfie loves being in charge and telling her off.

“And Florence mostly just kills herself laughing every time he has a tantrum.”

Alfie and Florence have been keeping an eye on their mum when she is at work as the pair were seen online watching Loose Women on a huge flatscreen TV in their playroom.

Charlene is preparing to bare herself in the Australian jungle and recently she spoke out about negative comments she received about her weight and her journey to being comfortable as herself.

Speaking to Top Sante Magazine, Charlene said: “I’m comfortable in my skin. A year into starting at ITV, 15 years ago, I was working overnight shifts and an email came through at 10pm with ‘your weight’ in the subject line.

“The email said, ‘You can’t fail to notice that you’re bigger than other news presenters. It’s something that you need to deal with. It’s unacceptable that you are the size you are.’

“I was so upset and it made me compare myself to other people, which, of course, is very unhealthy, but I couldn’t help but look at myself and think, ‘I’m disgusting.’

“With age and confidence, I’ve learned to tolerate communication such as that. I’m good at my job, irrespective of what I look like. Comments about my weight now don’t bother me.”

She also spoke about going on the show: “I think if I was ever to do a show such as I’m A Celebrity the issues will mainly be the outdoors, I don’t do bugs, I don’t do spiders, I don’t do any of those things. So why would I sign up?!

“There are several facets to me so perhaps I would surprise people. Who knows? Maybe you will see a different side.”
