Novak Djokovic and Boris Becker have a combined 26 Grand Slam titles between them… but they struggled against Simon Jordan in padel tennis.

That’s the version of events the former Crystal Palace owner told on talkSPORT after recalling the game he played with the legends.

Djokovic and Becker worked together for three years

Padel tennis is a game played on an enclosed court, which is roughly 25 per cent smaller than a regular tennis court, with solid, stringless, bats used.

Becker was the 20-time Grand Slam winner’s coach for three years, in a spell that started in December 2013, a period where he won six of those titles.

The pair are still close now and the Serbian recently expressed his ‘heartbreak’ over Becker’s prison sentence for hiding £2.5million worth of assets.

Jordan says got to know Djokovic through his brother and had a little game of padel tennis while out in Spain.

“You know that I know Novak. I know his brother quite well in Marbella,” Jordan told talkSPORT. “He’s a nice lad, but my God is he some kind of tennis player.

“Look at the way he returns serves. There’s never been anyone in the world who returns serves like he does.”

Jordan revealed the time he played the two tennis legends at padel tennis

Host Jim White said: “Who was it who told me that Simon Jordan once took a set off Djokovic in tennis… oh yes. It was you.”

Jordan responded: “It was padel tennis.”

White: “So you took a set off Djokovic.”

Jordan: “And Boris Becker. Becker was his coach. Every year, Becker took Novak Djokovic to Marbella for his warm weather training.

“So he warms up in Marbella for the Australian Open. We were out there and had a knock up… and took the first set off them.

“We got destroyed after, once they’d worked out how the game works. It’s a different game padel tennis.

“I did tell Jim, explicitly, that this is a conversation between you and I. If you have a secret or a problem, tell Jim and it won’t be a secret or problem any more!”
